At that time, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman of that district came and called out, "Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David!
Gospel Mt 15:21-28
We are all worthy of Grace, God's Love, healing, hope, peace, deliverance. We are at times like this Canaanite Woman pleading with God. This woman, who in Jesus' time was considered so filthy that she was thought of as a dog, she knew who was Lord. She was someone that good Jews would have no time for, she would be invisible. She was invisible even to Jesus, until she matched him wit for wit.
She wasn't backing down. She was standing her ground. She had a request that was honorable and she had heard and came to know that this man was Lord. OK she thought if that is true I am not leaving until I get what I want: healing for my daughter!
Do you sometimes feel as that Canaanite woman, invisible?
Do you sometimes feel as if being a mother makes you invisible?
Have you had the strength of your faith to say to yourself, to others, I AM worthy -- God made me so!
