We all know what a flash mob is, maybe even been in one, but never have I seen a religious one!
A friend of mine posted this on her Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/Jeannie143; posting: "This is so real. A Capuchin Priest holds a brief exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, (for Catholics this is Jesus in the form of the bread of the Eucharist) in a public mall and some kneel before Him (Jesus) while others stroll by... completely oblivious to God in their midst... The way we all are sometimes."
She contends that many of the people are oblivious of what is going on, that God is in their midst.
I am not so sure.
If you watch the video closely you will see many people stopping. Some stop to look and then move on, others to gawk, still others stay for a while and seem involved in the event. To me it is a powerful experience of the Holy Spirit inviting those people to stop, take in what they can and be moved to do what they do.
Never does there seem to be any disturbing words said, or actions done to disrupt the prayers. The words being said were powerful and said to touch the heart, to reach out to those who needed to hear them. The Franciscans Fathers truly are putting it all on the line and it makes me think would I be brave enough in love enough with my faith to do the same thing? Would you?
